TORONTO, ON (July 23, 2026) – The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) announces, with gratitude and best wishes, the departure of its President and CEO, Keanin Loomis, who will be taking a leave of absence effective August 1, 2026, to pursue his candidacy for Mayor of Hamilton.
On behalf of the CISC membership, we extend our sincere thanks to Keanin for his leadership and dedication to the organization. Since joining the CISC in June 2024, he has guided the organization through one of the most challenging periods facing Canada’s structural steel industry. Just months into his tenure, the sector was confronted with significant trade pressures following the expansion of the United States’ Section 232 tariffs.
Throughout this period, Keanin played a pivotal role in strengthening the CISC’s advocacy efforts, elevating the organization’s profile as a trusted voice for Canada’s structural steel industry with governments and policymakers across the country. Under his leadership, the CISC expanded its relationships with elected officials, government departments, industry partners, and stakeholders, reinforcing the organization’s ability to advocate effectively on behalf of its members.
The CISC thanks Keanin for his commitment and leadership during a critical time for our industry, which has strengthened the CISC and positioned the organization for continued success.
The CISC Board of Directors has initiated the search for a new President and CEO. During the transition, the CISC leadership responsibilities will be shared by Logan Calelle, Director of Engineering, and Rita Rahmati, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, who will oversee the organization’s operations and continue advancing its priorities as interim executive leads.
